Prior to becoming a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, I’ve been fortunate enough to explore movement through a variety of athletics including martial arts, football, track, parkour, cheerleading, gymnastics, yoga, rock climbing, stunt work, and general adventuring. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with each, but throughout all of it, I unknowingly allowed personal challenges to hold me back from what I thought I could become.
For me, those challenges manifested as physical pain in the moment, but in the grand scheme, they prevented me from taking advantage of many opportunities that were presented before me. I tried “fixing” the problems at the surface level of my awareness, but as I ventured deeper into my mind and body, I realized that my struggles stemmed from my approach, foundation, and attention within my movement and life in general.
For group instructors who give time and energy to others, I offer you my time so that we may share space and perspective as we explore how we can guide ourselves which in turn will allow us to better guide and relate to others, including our clients of course. Many might package what I have to say as self care, but I think of it more like life enhancement.
If you are anything like me, beneath all of your struggles and at the core of your being, lies curiosity, imagination, and a boundless sense of play. To me, life enhancement offers an unyielding freedom that releases the shackles attempting to hold me back so that I can bring joy to myself and those around me. Come on by and let’s enjoy some good ol fashion life enhancement together!
